Masterclass: Camilo Restrepo

Camilo Restrepo will give a masterclass on Tuesday, January 27, shedding light on the methods through which the cinematic act can function as a tool for confronting time, memory, and social reality.

Camilo Restrepo was born in Medellín, Colombia, in 1975 and has been living in France since 1999. He makes films at the intersection of documentary, performance, and experimental cinema.

His films have received numerous awards, including the Silver Leopard (Pardino d’Argento) at the Locarno Film Festival in 2015 and 2016, as well as the Best First Feature (Best Opera Prima) award at the Berlinale in 2020. They have also been selected for major international festivals such as the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival, New Directors / New Films, the Viennale, and the festivals of Toronto, Rotterdam, and New York. Alongside his artistic practice, he has worked as a visiting speaker at institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard University, and the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola film school in San Sebastián, where he has been a guest lecturer in the creative department and a project supervisor/mentor since 2020.
